The number >>231<< looks to be the serial nummer of the actual maker....

Red encircled touchmarks are the original 1912-1914/1915 proof effort. Yellow encircled touchmarks are those of a Re-Proof effort - not sure of this date? Possible between 1914/1915 & 1923?? Blue encircled touchmarks are those of München. Serbus, Raimey rse

There is ones more number on the extractors on barrel sets Nr. 286 and the München proof marks. That's why I thought that 491 is serial number, 231 is first proof date, 139 repair proof date and 286 München proof date. But that was my amateur guess :-))

Too there are some worn marks here. Looks like a bunch of Chicken Scratching, but it is all German Chicken Scratching...... I am still puzzled why there isn't a date associated with the last proof effort. Serbus, Raimey rse

Büchsenmacher Ahl looks to have hung out his gunmaking shingle circa 1891 and peddled his wares thru a couple portals in Bonn, with one being Römerplatz 1. There may have been an association w/ Reeb of Bonn or Reeb may have absorbed Ahl??
Wolfgang might well have known them....
The following entry can be found in the Bonn address book of 1902:
Ahl Vorname Andreas August Beruf Büchsenmachermeister. Gewehrfabrik. Handlung in Waffen, Munition u. Jagdartikeln. Adresse Poststr. 15 Ort Bonn
Ahl First name Andreas August Profession master gunsmith. Gun factory. Dealer in weapons, ammunition and hunting articles. Address Poststr. 15 Place Bonn
Unfortunately I can't find a connection to Reeb...
