There are ignorant people on both sides. No doubt. You are right right about that. Right now, it's the right, however, that is clamoring for the end of the EC.

If you go that route, you are doing basically the same thing as removing the EC. It's not quite the same, but it defeats the EC's purpose. Both ways are a democracy, but the EC is a more respresentative democracy in the same way that a House and a Senate are, together, more representative of the nation than just one of those houses alone.
