I took a long look at the 28ga (30 inch!)RBL. I almost convinced myself I could live with the pointer/setter motif instead of the more desireable springer/cocker. Then I got to the part I just can't abide...that rolled-edge trigger guard that has enough metal in it to make an extra set of barrels is the singular reason I'll never own any RBL. Why, oh why? Mr. Galazan may make some fine guns, but some of the Foxes he turns out are the most tasteless 5-figure doo-dads I've ever seen.

Buy the Parker Repro (with double triggers if you can find one). You will love it (I have 2 and I love them!!).
Joe
P.S. hampton, you may have bought a Garbi, but it was not a 216RL. That's a Grulla model!

Since the manufacturer is still in business the RBL should be the obvious choice. Old Olin-Kodensha plant site is now a golf course, so.........

I've been waiting for this debate. I'd probably come out in favor of a multiple barrel Repro choice as to overall aesthetics and economics. Still, Tony does service what he sells and that would be a factor.

While it's true that there's no one "standing behind" Parker Repros, any gunsmith capable of doing good work on an original Parker can do the same on a Repro. The guts are the same.

'Skuzme, but would someone enlighten me on "scale frames?" I clearly understand the Parker system where a heavy gun was built on a particular size frame, a mid-weight gun on the next size smaller, and a light gun on one smaller yet. So, which is the gauge scale frame? Can we ever put 20 gauge barrels on a true 28 gauge scale frame? If not, then all two gauge sets have to be built on the larger gauge frame?

I can't afford either one but if I could, I would buy a Parker repro with twice triggers and 28" barrels. Only because they weren't made with 30", I think.

The 20 is built on a "O" frame and the 28 is no a "OO" frame. There is no difference in measurments between the two except at the width of the fences(narrower for the 28), and the "OO" is made lighter by milling out grooves in the watertable.
I double the 20ga barrels safely be set as close together as the 28ga barrels.
