But will the two guns impact differently? I'm assuming that as long as the drop at face is the same on both guns, the drop at heel won't mater?

I think so, but I'd have to prove it to myself to be sure. I do not think the difference will be much, if you take the time to properly adapt to each gun as you mount it.

ADAPT to the gun. There's the key!!

You (or at least I) cannot do that quickly enough for a flushing grouse. But I can force a "fit" with many guns if I have time.
