Has she been properly introduced to gunfire?
Bluestem's question is very important. What you want to do is connect gunfire to something the dog enjoys. Like chasing tennis balls. throw the ball and pop a .22 blank when the dog is some distance away. She probably won't even notice. Gradually do it when she's closer to you. Eventually do it with a shotgun. That one can require a partner to either toss the ball or pull the trigger. Ball going one direction; point the shotgun in the opposite direction. If you notice any hesitation on the part of the dog, don't try to rush things. You've got plenty of time between now and hunting season. Start with a smaller bore shotgun/light load. If you can walk her anywhere she might find and flush a game bird, that's a good time to fire the gun. She'll likely connect the noise to flushing the bird, which is what you want to see.
