If you sort thru the British Chicken Scratching, you can see the 70mm chambers, 12/29 Proof Date & what looks to be an date of 1951 by the Birmingham Proof Facility?

An interesting Sauer Taubenflinte Modell Nr. 29C, whose order was placed Oktober 15th, 1928, passed thru the Suhl Proof Facility in December 1929 & delivered on January 31st, 1930. The books list the hand of Master Engraver Fritz Berkes as the author of the adornment but this is not the case & more than likely the tap, tap, tap is by the hand of his employee Klaus Werner. Now on the to the >>Der Führer<< on the PistolGrip Cap and that is very odd & looks to be of the hand of Richard Schilling. Not a lot of understanding of the phrase just yet.

In a bit of a rush as usual but I'll try to flip these later.

What I am looking for are opinions on the holes in the forend. A pattern effort by the current custodian shows it shooting 8" high but the probability of it leaving Sauer that way approaches zero.

provision for an adjustable hand stop - as used on target rifles? i don't understand how the raised wood block atop the forearm allows it to properly seat against the barrel set....bizarre. drilling through the checkering would seem to indicate the modification was an added "feature".

best regards,

tom

Homemade Wooden Trap Rail???

"Selfmade" Hochschuss!...

Current Custodian gives:

>>A piece of 1/4 balsa wood tapered down to 1/32 at the muzzle attached with tape and blackened
with a marker. Purpose is to raise the point of aim 8" at 30Yds.<<

Somewhere on this website, there is a thread with a Pigeon Gun, or similar, that has the addition of lead bars in the forend for a shooting edge. For the moment I just cannot remember who is the custodian nor the maker?

I have seen (and tried myself) such remedies:
- a raised rib, either to raise the point of impact as descibed, possibly for trap shooting, or to compensate for a buttstock that has just not enough drop
- adding weight to adjust balance of the gun, some people just want to have more weight at the barrel end than others. Here probably to compensate the weight of the oversize buttplate that also looks like a recent addition

Many thanks for the comments. Do you think just changing the buttplate or stock would be a solution to accomplish the same result¿

Too, the more I think about those >>Lead Bars<< the more I think they accompanied a Charles Daly - H.A. Lindner Sextuple under DRGM 555768 & even Purdey had an equivalent lockup.
