I don't know anyone. But you have a great idea to drive whenever you can. As I posted on here, I drove about 1400 miles (twice) round trip to have my Model 21 engraved by Pauline Muerelle last year. Once to drop it off and the second trip to pick it up. It did cost me about $400 in toll road fees to drive back and forth through Pennsylvania twice. But I did get to see Connecticut. Government stated cost of mileage ......... $.67/mile. 1400 X $.67 = $938 Times two equals $1876 Plus $400 tolls and meals would be $2300 Makes USPS package rates look pretty tame to a reasonable person.

I took a nice vacation. Saw the Winchester plant and got several souvenirs from the factory. Went around Yale University. And went to a part of the country I'd never been in. And I had a great vacation. And if I get another Model 21 that I want Pauline Murrelle to engrave, I'll do the same thing all over again. I have already contacted her about it. I had a fantastic time and for that, the money was no object at all. That's the way I roll. Thanks for posting.

By the way Stanton, I finally took the time to figure out how much it actually cost to drive to Connecticut. Twice. Let's start with gasoline. (Read the post below) The fuel range on both cars I used was probably about 400+ miles on a tank full of gas which means I filled up twice each way. So, I would have spent about $90.00 in gas one way. Multiply that times four and you get $360.00 on both round trips TOTAL. Not the $1876 dollars that you figured. Around $370.00 TOTAL in car rentals for both trips. ($180.00 + dollars each round trip.) And less than $360.00 toll fees TOTAL for both trips. The toll fees were less than $90.00 each way. ($87.00) I still have the receipts. NOT the exuberant total keith said. I travel several months out of the year and I always eat at McDonald's to insure getting the food I enjoy. And a clean rest room. I stop at the drive-thru and eat while I drive most of the time. Plus, driving the route I took insures not getting lost, no stops and starts and getting there and back ASAP because I had my dog (pup) with me both trips. So the total cost would be somewhere about half of what you figured. Probably. $11-1200.00 TOTAL for both trips. Not counting probably less than $60.00 on food each trip. Not $2300.00 as you said. Not to mention that the gun I took was the most important gun to me and I wasn't going to take any chances of something happening to it in shipment after hearing all the horror stories I have heard about shipping a gun. Plus I had a great mini-vacation. I travel approximately 10,000 miles a year, so I know HOW I like to travel and what the best way for me to travel is. And I didn't want to take the chance of having an irate postal worker steal or destroy my $8-9000.00 gun like we hear happens so many times on this board. I didn't just send a couple pieces of wood in the mail like the OP. I wanted to ship an entire gun. Big difference!

I don't have the receipts for the gas I paid on the trips, but I do remember that I was pretty shocked that the Dodge Charger got 32 miles to the gallon. So I would have spent about $90 each way for a couple tankfuls of gas.

Wow, you're amazing. You must have extra-sensory perception, to be able to know what I post on this forum while you have me on IGNORE. And, to send me a private message to boot!
Impressive, really.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Thank you!! But I wanted to take you off of my ignore list temporarily to point out your errors. I didn't know there was a rule on here that says I can't do that. Thank you for calling me impressive and amazing. I was well aware of the fact, but I appreciate that! Take care!!

It's his money to waste, if that's what he wants to do. That is true Dave. Jimmy is free to blow his entire Social Security check every month, and take all of the vacations he wishes. He is also free to be an internet poser who calls himself a Jetsetter while posting bragging photos of cars he doesn't even own... no matter how sad and pathetic that may be. But it all seemed rather wasteful and silly to me and Stan, especially when we have had to endure all of his crying and defense of the anti-gunner Joe Biden over the issue of Climate Change, Global Warming, melting polar ice caps, and elevated CO2 levels that pose a big scary existential threat. For that reason, we felt equally free to comment about it. And geez... you'd think someone who is so concerned about the destruction of the planet and the importance of crap like the Green New Deal would at least choose some fuel efficient rental car like a Prius, instead of bragging about speeding across Pennsylvania in a rented Dodge Charger while unseen gas guzzling Corvettes sit at home. Jimmy is also free to pretend to IGNORE posts submitted by me, Stan, Ted, and others by responding to details within those posts he claims to IGNORE... just as he did in his last couple posts here. Maybe Jimmy will now delete those posts too, thinking he is still fooling anyone about IGNORING those who see him for what he is... a dim witted Troll and hypocritical phony who repeatedly lies about IGNORING people he is intellectually afraid of. Unlike the Preacher, I don't wish to ask Jimmy to just stop showing us his foolishness and Trump Derangement Syndrome. I think it's possibly good for business here. I think a lot of people are checking in just to see his repeated stupidity, and the mentality of a gun owner who actually supports a life-long anti-gun Democrat with severe cognitive impairment. Like the recent Debate, it's hard to not look at a train wreck. But I must admit I'm shocked that those Liberal Democrats here who cry and lecture about politics and off-topic stuff aren't complaining one bit about Jimmy's Global Warming dogma, his frequent false or unfounded attacks on Trump, or his decidedly off topic bragging pic of a car he doesn't own. Perhaps they have a hidden agenda??? You'd think they would be asking for a few pics of that Pauline Muerelle Model 21 engraving job instead. By the way, I agree with your advice about sometimes being able to bring old apparently worn checkering back to life by nothing more than a good cleaning. To me, that often looks better than fresh sharp checkering on an old used gun.

Thank you for calling me impressive and amazing. I was well aware of the fact, but I appreciate that! Take care!! Jimmy, how could you know that Stan or I made any errors if you were actually IGNORING us? There is no rule that says you can't take us off IGNORE to read and respond to what we post. We all know that you do that all the time, while claiming to IGNORE us. But you have to be dumber than a bag of hammers to actually do that on a regular basis... and you do. BTW, I got those figures for the cost of traveling all the way across Pennsylvania from the PA Turnpike website. Those ridiculous tolls are the actual charges for a passenger car. It gets quite a bit higher for more axles, pulling a trailer, or a heavier weight class. PA Turnpike tolls for a Tractor Trailer are astronomical. So manufacturers, farmers, and food producers are forced to pass those costs onto the consumer. As I said, that is another consequence of Democrat rule, in addition to the massive inflation caused by Bidenomics. Of course, when you are a Jetsetter who brags about blowing his entire Social Security check by the time the next one arrives, none of that matters. Who cares if our children and grandchildren can afford the American Dream?
