I don’t have a reference for the price in the 1950s. I have a 1971 gun digest that lists the price at $1325 for an SO3EL. A Browning Superposed Diana grade is listed at $895 and the Midas grade at $1255.

Sandlapper,

I dug up an old catalog on from 1957. Godfrey was an importer in NY bringing Beretta guns. The price for an SO3EL was $667. I also sent you the old DGJ link. It does have some errors in it concerning SO guns.

If possible, I would also like a copy. Email is ashaffer@windstream.net

A couple of years ago I bought an S2 that had been upgraded (engraving and gold inlays) by Bill Mains. The metal was refinished and the wood freshened up. Bill was an engraver that did a lot of work for trapshooters, primarily pistol grip caps. He had a mobile trailer and did work at the Grand every year. He was a gold smith and engraver and ended up being Ithaca's last engraver and contract engraver for the New Ithaca Gun company. It is a prewar model (1938 or 1939; can't remember without going to look). Absolutely the best handling and dynamic O/U 12 gauge I have ever handled. It is improved and full with double triggers and weighs in right at 7 pounds. Much different than the later guns I have handled.

My server seems sensitive to a lot ofsecurity issues and bounces quite a few. I have a reflector you can use in that case. the reflected email is WM4N@arrl.net

I have never seen a rejection if sent through that address.
