anyone who had never seen this footage has obviously not been paying attention to current events long enough to be considered to have much in the way of insights. all of this sort of stuff serves as a reminder to me of just how thin the veneer of civilization really is.

when it was still "news", i watched the cellphone videos of the actual death of floyd several times - not to watch chauvin kill him...but to watch the faces and body language of the three fellow officers as their personal ethics collided with the reality of what they were witnessing from 5 feet away. and consider that pretty much all that destruction might have been avoided had one or two of his fellow officers intervened before the lid was kicked off pandora's box.
