My best friend and hunting partner in my entire life died a couple months ago.

I was given his shotgun shells that he always kept in the top of his dog box.

We made dozens of trips west of the Mississippi to shoot pheasant and quail.

He being an engineer, always unloaded his gun and put the cartridges back in the box when the hunt was finished.

Opening that dog box lid was like a time capsule and demonstrated how few cartridges we actually use walking up pheasants.

I would recommend it to anybody here, to find a load you like Buy a case, and then leave the 9 1/2 boxes that will still be there when you die to a good friend.

Don’t let being cheap spoil wonderful opportunities with friends.

Out there doing it best I can.
