Any success off the left shoulder, James?
I shot two rounds of trap with my son on Monday. He is a bit of a hotshot, but, with mountain bike racing season in full swing at his private, Catholic school, and several advanced placement classes at same, he is rusty. I beat him both rounds, shooting low twenties both rounds with
12 gauge pump guns for both of us. Normally, I like him to beat me, but, it felt good, and since he is my kid, I didn’t gloat, much, anyway.
I have reached a point where holding the gun on the trap field right handed almost feels normal, as I haven’t shot left handed at the club in a few years.
I would encourage you to grasp that this is not an endeavor that will be simple or quick, or easy. Do hire a professional to critique your shooting, one ugly thing I learned is that when shooting in cold blood at a patterning board, I have a tendency to cant the gun, and hook the shot left. I’m working on that, but, it doesn’t seem to be an issue on a bird I am swinging at.
Good luck.
Best,
Ted
