Bob. Thanks for all your input. I was able to find the patent drawing. The screw is actually set a bit further down in the curved part of the trigger than in the patent drawing but I assume that it does the same function. Also, I have examined the receiver, barrels and forend very closely and there are no proofs or other marks. Only the serial number.

Shops in London brought in whole guns from Birmingham - a common practice - looks like ol'Emil did the same thing from Germany.
A big leap of faith from the rather everyday Ithacas of his design.

I am impressed that Mr. Flues worked without electricity but this certainly did not help his output of fine gun work. There has to be enough of something to create a demand for it and a handful of guns by any maker, no matter how skilled,is not going to create much of a market.Kornbrath made a name for himself but a stroke stopped him in his prime. He could have engraved many more guns than he did but for that.I think that he would even be impressed by Winston Churchill,a student of Mr. Kornbraths student,Joseph Fugger. The work continues and knowledge grows.

It seems the finest, read expensive, creations of man go to people who usually,it seems, tend to be able to hang on to them and pass them on to heirs who do the same.I had the pleasure of seeing a Kornbrath model 12,Fugger Springfield and a Griebel Mauser all at once but they are in a collection that probably won't be seen again during my lifetime. The same with fine watches, knives, furniture, etc.
I cite the Czars Parker as an example.

Thbis is all very interesting. I never realized E. Flues made guns on his own.

What about that Flues O/U pictured here is unique to the Flues design? While it's styling looks distinct, it mechanism looks pretty standard (I'm sure I'm missing something, though).

And what about his SxSs? Other than the ones he came up with for Ithaca, what are his other designs like? How do they work?

What about this Newton guy? I've never heard of him before.

Thanks

And when can we see your SxS?

OWD
