Any recent information? I'm trying to donate my English Dewson lightweight percussion 10-bore to Teddy Roosevelt park. It supposedly belonged to the cook at his ranch who brought it from New York where he had used it on passenger pigeons. I don't know whether Dewson was a maker or a retail name. Old V.M. Starr of Eden, SD jug choked it for me and I shot it for many years.

Looked all through my books. I can find Jewson of Halifax and Dawson of Lincolnshire but no luck with yours. Don't worry though as I have two English guns that I can find nothing on and am still digging on those without success so far. Lagopus.....

Tried again, but now can't read even with 10x lens. 87 year old remaining eye with AD, glaucoma, folded retina, and replacement lens just can't cut it! I'll have a younger guy give it a try.

Looks like I was way off base on the maker. So disreagard all earlier threads about Dewson. My caregiver took pics of the nicely engraved lockplates and says they say Henry. Searched the site and found no mention of any Henry as a percussion shotgun maker. When I could still see, I think I posted pics of the Birmingham proofmarks on the barrels, but can't find that thread now. Can anyone here put the pics on this thread for me? I can have her take pics of the proofmarks next week.

Hal, here is one of your old posts. The photos are from Photobucket so the PB logo is smeared all across them. Might need new ones. (Logo on the plates does not look like "Henry." It looks more like "Dawson." (see PM).

Always thought it was Dewson. But now my caregiver says it says Henry! Need to email the new pics to someone here. Driving me nutz! Were the pics above good enough to assign the barrels to Birmingham?

Hal, I sent you my email via PM. Please send me some Clean pictures of the names on the plates and barrel. The other photos are not clear enough but they are definitely not "Henry."
