I just won one of these at a charity raffle, but can't find any for sale, or a lot of information about them.

https://bilozir.net/fair-slx800-prestige-o-u-shotgun-12-20-ga-canada/

Ironically, I was just thinking I needed a more practical gun after my go-to SLE needed a firing pin and will be out of commission for a few weeks.

Also, I get a selection of gauge, so I am thinking a 20.

Will probably receive through an FFL in a couple of weeks. Anyone have any experience with them?

Congratulations, I'd get it in 20, too, with 30" barrels. Should make a great dove gun.

I've no experience with the FAIR SLX800 but do own two FAIR doubles in other models and like them both. Very good guns for the $$$.

F.A.I.R. guns are very well reviewed by Michael Yardley and others on this side of the pond.

I am very pleased with my .410 made in Italy O/U Rottweil that I am 99% sure was made for them by F.A.I.R.

Thanks for the input, gentlemen. My recollection is that they were the "house" guns at Southwind Plantation here in Georgia when I shot there a few years ago. I remember good fit, finish, and function, but can't recall handling others in person.

I will definitely request 30inch barrels if that is an option.

Stan, have you had any mechanical issues with yours and, if so, were you able to get them serviced?

One tiny issue, Dan, but not bad enough to warrant sending it off for servicing. Occasionally the top lever trips back to center before the gun is completely closed. Not every time, but occasionally.

An excellent service shop for FAIR is Bazil Slaughter in NV. He's been to Italy a couple times and been factory trained there. He tells me that FAIR guns almost never give problems. He is where I bought my FAIR Inside Tartaruga Gold .410.

There were some really good deals on FAIR OUs when Jim Austin closed his shop and Cabela's got their hands on most of the FAIRs. No sxs back then. I'm not much of an OU guy, but I got my hands on a 28ga OU that had most of the options sxs fans prefer: straight grip, double triggers, solid rib. That's one I regret letting get away. Although it was my only 28ga at the time, so I'm saved from needing to reload 28s.

That is one of the reasons I always hold the lever over until the gun is closed before I let the lever go. That is the way the Beretta rep taught me to do when I bought my 686 Silver Pigeon. Some people like to just "close them up." But, when I close a gun, I always hold the lever over, close the gun up and then release the lever.

Nope….your Beretta rep is wrong….doesn’t even reflect what the Beretta manual says about closing the gun.
