Before I started hunting with my lightweight, jug choked 10 bore percussion, I put in new nipples and loaded it with 2oz shot and 6 dr FFg. Stuck the butt in an old tire and pulled triggers with a cord. No problems, so my duck load was 4dr and 1-3/4 oz Lubaloy 4's. Sure wish I could still hunt.

How many grains(drams) of powder do you use and what size(1, 1 1/2, etc.). I guess also what brand; Swiss, Goex, ...... I'm not a shotgun BP guy but I use a lot of it in rifles and some musket shooting.

I use 150 grains of Old Eynsford 1 1/2fg with 1 1/2 oz. of #6 shot. I also use Swiss powder but it is more expensive. My heaviest loads are 160 grains of BP and 2 oz. of shot. When I shoot the 4 gauge I use 9 drams of BP and 3 oz. of shot.
