So I am going to CT for a family matter and since I am driving I thought my wife and I would stop at Orvis Sandanona and shoot clays. It is only $100 each for 100 sporting. I know I am lucky in that my home courses charge about $38/100

Only you can decide if the experience provides value worth the cost.
$100 I consider usury and would have a hard time not laughing at the proprietor when given the price quote.
I dropped out of a local club when they went 'upscale'. I was not alone.
Same club once had an annual SxS shoot that stood to cost upwards of $2/target by the time you rented the mandatory cart for some ridiculous price.
I understand costs have gone up, and I don't begrudge any man an honest profit...but I won't let him steal from me.

I'm president of our small gun club and are not for profit so we try and keep our costs down for the public and our members. We are about .40 cents per bird. When we have a competition shoot it is about .60 cents per bird. I have seen some gun clubs where competitions come out to be about $1.25 to $2.00 per target. One thing is for sure, Shooting is an expensive sport!

I read your post several times.
What are you trying to say?
The north east is the most expensive market for almost anything in the US.
If you were trying to say that you didn’t want to pay $100 to shoot at Sandanona, well then keep driving.
I like the facility. I shoot there whenever I am in the area.
BSA is right down the road, which is a great shop to stop in as well.
And when you get sick of shooting, try your hand at fly fishing.
Or have them release a few birds on their preserve.
Out there doing it best I can.

My home club, at which Nitrah and I have shot, is $30/100 for members, and one guest with the member.
I understand what Jeff is saying clearly. Orvis is exorbitant, and is charging for the "experience and ambience".
May God bless America and those who defend her.

I’d pay a buck a target for some imaginative challenging target presentations. But not for your run of the mill feel good targets set for the general public.

You must be clairvoyant Stan. “Only $100.00” and “am lucky my home club is $38.00” Is hard to understand when juxtaposed. Is “Only $100.00” sarcasm ? Because within 2 hrs of NYC, fresh air is more than $100.00. (Sarcasm)
If a destination club is not seen as “worth” it, don’t go there. There are only so many clubs that can offer full service amenities and survive. And they charge accordingly.
Sandanona also has driven game flurries for two gunners at a time, if that is one’s bag. Not many places offer anything like that.

Our club in upstate NY charges $15/50 for non members, $14/50 for members and $13/50 for senior members. Carts are free for those that need one. Just a little over a mile if walking on flat, non muddy level ground. Some mosquitoes in the summer tho and snow in the winter. Youths up to age 18 shoot free including 12 and 20 gauge ammo if shooting with an adult. This Saturday, November 2nd we will have our walleye and yellow perch fry plus all the trimmings FREE but a donation to our Youth Program is appreciated. And non members shoot at member prices. Last week I benefitted from a one hour lesson at the Purdey Royal Berkshire shooting ground about 30 miles west of Heathrow Airport, England.
With a dedicated instructor we concentrated on practicing at high pheasants in advance of our trip to Scotland next month. The cost was £110 or $140 US including 100 cartridges and clays, plus free coffee. I recommend it.
Previously I have had a similar session at Holland & Hollands in west London, which was equally good. Plus they now have an indoor rifle range before your safari.
