I have a number of old original guns, this one letters to J G Dow in Bozeman, Montana territory in 1877. It is a 40-90 Sharps 40-90 Bottleneck…

Well done on both counts! Evidently that Sharps didn't travel far from home.

This is an extremely cool rifle that I wrote a story about for Sports Afield. At some point it was rebarreled by A.D. McAusland in Miles City, Montana Territory. A.D. McAusland was a well known gunsmith at the time of the last of the Northern herd of buffalo. This is about as close as you can have to a certified Buffalo Rifle.
As I remember Kirk bought this Sharps from a fellow in Alaska.

Kirk -

I love to see the old guns being used for what they were made to do. You've done a lot of that over the years and I've appreciated it.

So do you mix in any vegetables when you eat all that meat?

No veggies. Lewis and Clark conquered the west in 2 years on meat and no vegetables…
