Why think that way, Gene? I am convinced that you get old when you think you're getting old. You stay young when you think and act young, and plan things to do in the future. I will eventually have to slow down I know, but I will push myself to stay as active as possible for as long as possible. I still work full time farming, with my sons and grandson. That alone brings me great joy and hopeful expectation. We're not quite finished harvesting this year's crop but I'm already thinking how to do a better job on next years', and what the crop mix will be.
I was first exposed to the gunmaking abilities of the Afghans in an article in an old Guns and Ammo Annual, AIR, entitled "People of the Gun". I was impressed then, and was impressed again with how the Muhajideen and Pakistanis fought back against the Russians and the Afghan military for 10 years beginning in 1979, shooting Migs out of the sky with shoulder held SAMs. No one thought that possible, but they did it.
