A bit unusual I guess, but I compete and fly aerobatic RC aircraft in IMAC events. Stan, I agree with you on cues. Here's my Meucci, marked size 0, and an awfully nice Hubbart, which may have been a Meucci model. Both played on an old National table, 4 1/2 x 9 foot. Also enjoy a 1963 Studebaker Avanti which has fine original paint and interior. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/LncZt6x.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/FXmuW9M.png)

My wife says I could never approach a hobby like a sane individual. Not to belabor the point I’ve …
Drag raced bikes and cars Owned a half dozen muscle cars Owned numerous motorcycles (all flavors) Played Golf ( fanatically) Hunted and fished year round Shot several rifle disciplines competitively Shot most shotgun sports competitively. Played guitar in several Church worship bands. The biggest benefit from all of those hobbies? The amazing people I’ve met and become friends with.
Dodging lions and wasting time.....

That Hubbart is nice looking, Daryl. I know little about collectible cues. Still trying to get good enough at the game to get the best out of what I have now. I was recently given a Players cue that shoots pretty good, but with a little larger diameter shaft than my Meucci.
I view cues a lot like I do competition shotguns. I always thought I needed one that was good enough to not be a hindrance to me, but no better than I was capable of getting the best performance out of. I still feel that way. I'll have to improve my game a lot to need something better than the CueTec and the Meucci. Looks like your Meucci may be a three point, like mine. I have been told by more seasoned players that the more points the better quality the Meucci. I know they sell "fives", maybe "sixes". OBTW, order you a can of Longini cue stick wax. It works wonders slicking up the shaft, and smells like a dream!
Karl, some of those RC aircraft are big! Looks like great fun to me.
This has been an interesting thread. Thanks to everyone who has participated. I hope still more check in.
In an ongoing effort to keep this alive and interesting . . . . what are you thinking about getting into, that you aren't at this time? As for me, I want another '56 Chevy 210 two-door sedan, like the one I had when I was 17. I worked on that car, and poured blood, sweat, tears and every dollar I could earn into it to make it into a street rod worthy of mention. I had to sell it when I got a new '69 Camaro SS, and have missed it ever since. I've never gotten over it, and I'm determined to find another to customize and make "mine". I'm looking at one that is 85% complete, with a blueprinted 400 small block bored .060" over, aluminum heads and two fours. Four speed Muncie, 12 bolt rear. I can get into it for not too stupid a price I think, and can put the finishing touches on it myself. I've just got to finish up peanut harvest (please God, don't let it rain too much Thursday) so I can take a day trip to NC to look it over closely. I hope I don't find shoddy body work on it. We'll see.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Stanton, at this stage what am I thinking of is what I need to be getting out of. I have a library of about 80 19th and early 20th century books on Central Asia, what is now Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Tibet, etc....Brit travelers for the most part, but one Spanish who went out to meet Timurlane in 1402 and one French plus another 50-80 more modern ones and some compiled encyclopedias. Some are pretty rare. But after 15 August 2021. . .not much use - until 9/11 happens again. If anyone wants to read up on the Indian Army expeditions of the 19th century - 3 of the 6 volumes are devoted to punitive expeditions against the Pashtuns including the 1839-42 and 1878-80 Afghan wars, I have a great 6 volume set. As a bonus you get the Abyssinia campaign and others. (admittedly most of these are on-line now, sadly). And to keep this on target, the Pashtuns could flat make some gun copies. Would like a $100 H&H? ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/vOtv3LV.png)

It must really suck when you crash one of those big RC aircraft! Looks expensive!

Why think that way, Gene? I am convinced that you get old when you think you're getting old. You stay young when you think and act young, and plan things to do in the future. I will eventually have to slow down I know, but I will push myself to stay as active as possible for as long as possible. I still work full time farming, with my sons and grandson. That alone brings me great joy and hopeful expectation. We're not quite finished harvesting this year's crop but I'm already thinking how to do a better job on next years', and what the crop mix will be.
I was first exposed to the gunmaking abilities of the Afghans in an article in an old Guns and Ammo Annual, AIR, entitled "People of the Gun". I was impressed then, and was impressed again with how the Muhajideen and Pakistanis fought back against the Russians and the Afghan military for 10 years beginning in 1979, shooting Migs out of the sky with shoulder held SAMs. No one thought that possible, but they did it.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Stanton, interesting on the cue sticks. I have had both for about 45 years. My playing, though, has not kept up with the que quality. Those two ques came from a garage sale in Anchorage, Alaska. As I recall, the lady sold both for $20 each. Actually, my shooting ability never approached what the ques could possibly produce.

I don't really have what I think of as hobbies. But there are things I like to do or used to do or am very interested in.
An abbreviated list would included (leaving out shotguns and hunting for obvious reasons):
Pool/snooker/billiards. Grew up with a table in my bedroom. Sports cars with a hint of muscle. Waterskiing Golf Tennis Squash Short board sailing. Much larger keel boat sailing. Reading......anything. Running. Skiing Collecting fine wine.

RyanF, Why yes it does! I'm always reminded that when I'm flying inverted, that " down is up and up is expensive"! Karl
