Thanks to Fred for posting the photos, I recently got this early Malden Niedner rifle. Since it came from Alaska I wonder if it once belonged to Michael as he had lots of Niedner stuff. The barrel does not have a number on it so as Michael wrote, Niedner did not make this barrel but used Savage or Winchester barrels. The action looks like it was from an NRA sales rifle and Niedner added an extension to the tang. He also added a bolt hold closed plunger on the safety lug ala Barney Worthen. The inletting is similar to Wundhammer with little chisel marks. I must have sent the inletting photo twice and missed the one with the foreend inletting, I will resend that one to Fred. The butt plate is kind of unusual with 3 screws. I kind of like this one in 25 Niedner HP which I think is just a 25-06, I will find that out soon.
