Just ran across these last photographs from my father-in-law's place in October. Never heard of these shells before but perhaps some of the Great White North crowd here will know of them?

Circa 1960s maybe? Is that $2.95 a box...

CIL Shotgun shells were super common in the 1960s. CIL Imperial. I can picture the boxes now. As a kid, it's all I remember my dad using. I also remember Marshall Wells in Winnipeg. Not sure they ever had much of a presence in the East.

The "DUCO" waterproof finish most likely refers to the trade name of a lacquer produced by DuPont Chemical Co.

"Duco" was a brand of varnish used to waterproof paper hulls.
CIL introduced plastic hulls in 1963.
Imperial Long Range were the premium high brass loads of their day.
I was 16 in 1963. I shot the cheaper "Canuck" shells.

No telling how that box ended up in my father-in-laws storage shed. I suspect that only the folks here would appreciate its history.

Does Canada still have a domestic small arms industry (did I see where Trudeau was groveling down at Mar-a-Largo)?
