I have 3-4 fur hats like the one Ted posted, some all fur and some with the front panel and earflaps in beaver or fox, that I wore all the time when I lived in western bush AK. Never had an issue with owls attempting to prey on my fur covered head, but if I was traipsing around calling fox or trapping, I had a tendency to overheat with the full fur hat on. It was great for running around on a sno go in -30 or colder temps with more often than not, some good stiff winds blowing.
