I am familiar with the dangers of carrying a nice double on horseback when quail hunting. An acquaintance of mine was hunting on horseback on a plantation that adjoins my land some years ago. His gun, a Winchester Custom Shop M21, was in a leather scabbard. The plantation owner's horse suddenly kicked the other horse with both back legs hitting the scabbard which broke the M21 stock.
