My Woolrich down filled hat is too warm for most days in Central Maryland, but I keep it handy for those rare really cold days. KY Jon mentions the black leather Army gloves with wool inserts. I still have a couple of pairs of those and they are my go to gloves if I'm not shooting. They were issued to me at Fort Bragg 55 years ago. We were also issued the ear flapped pilot's hat, but we never wore them. I still wear mine when it is bitter cold and windy. I am still sleeping in my 1949 down filled mummy bag, also issued in 1967.
