Side-by-sides with 2" chambers have been a popular topic on this forum. I just happened to see one on the Hallowell web site. It appears to have been made by Skimin & Wood and imported to the US by Kimball Arms of Woburn MA. It weighs 5 lb 3 oz and has 28" barrels. Readers may want to have a look.

I've got guns for 3 1/2, 3, 2 7/8, 2 3/4 and 2 1/2 inch shells. I don't think I want a 2 incher.

It is a nice gun, if the barrels and chambers are still okay, and they probably are. Price is not bad. I also have a Kimball. Apparently, they are quite common on the east coast where Kimball was importing them from S&W. At least, that is what Morris Baker told me a couple years ago. 5# 3 oz is exceptionally light, even for a straight grip. Mine has a PoW grip and is a bit on the chunky side at 5# 9 oz but a great little grouse gun, it is. Anyone can own and shoot a subgage gun. The 2" 12 is a lot of fun for folks that like something a bit off the beaten track rather than marching with the masses, and hunting FOR the shotgun is just as fun as hunting WITH the shotgun. I believe Ned Roberts was associated with the Kimball Arms outfit.

2-inch guns are neat. 28-inch tubes make it very desirable.

I have 2" guns in 26" and 28". I find myself going with the 26" more often. It is a BLNE. The 28" is a BLE. Is a 2" 12 ga. practical"? As Ken once noted, once a hunter passes the first KFC on his way to the field, all semblances of "practicality" vanish. Gil

I picked up a beautiful 2" 12 this spring --from Battle--after looking around for a while. An absolutely beautiful 5# 2oz B. Halliday BLE, 26". After buying enough ammunition from RST to last a very long time, it got a good workout this fall. It is absolute joy to carry in thick New England grouse cover--Sometimes it's just about fun! It'll head off to get a horn butt plate this winter then, after rechecking the pattern, may get opened up too. ![[Linked Image from photos.smugmug.com]](https://photos.smugmug.com/Hunting-2024/i-6cB7Xg8/0/LBkkVcbS2cBkNTMRzDqKQ4tG2wc4RPrCF53scmWVr/X3/IMG_6652-X3.jpg)

More pictures? Knocking down pheasants with it, no less. Nicely done. What shot size did you use for that? I have a friend who wants to take every species of upland bird in North America with a 2". I do not know how far he has gotten yet.

Open the chokes on a 2" gun? Why not screw in chokes and a glue on ventilated rib? That is a wonderful 2" gun, congratulations.
