The gun on the right, Lot 138, is the earliest Edwinson Green serial number I have seen referenced and uses Whitworth patent one piece barrels.

Please note that the patentee of the action was not as stated Edwinson (E. C.) Green but William Charles Green who was probably Edwinson’s uncle.

Someone, it may have been the late De Witt Bailey, once told me that when Sir Joseph Whitworth was using this one piece system to make double rifle barrels more ended up on the scrap heap behind the factory that were successfully produced.

When I spoke to the proprietors of Longthorne at the Game Fair they told me that they did not have that problem.

Il ne fait aucun doute que Charles Breuil et Jean Breuil étaient cousins. Leur grand-père Jacques Breuil (canonnerie Breuil-Glaize) était, comme tu l'indiques, un célèbre fabricant de canons Damas.
Quand Goubaud a embauché Charles Breuil, Jean Breuil travaillait chez son cousin. Tous deux sont alors partis travailler à Saint-Rémy-Les-Chevreuses.
A ma connaissance, Jean Breuil n'a jamais fabriqué de canons mono-blocs, ni même de canons demi-blocs.

Désolé, je ne parle pas français, donc je ne suis pas sûr que Google traduise correctement. Pourriez-vous être plus précis ? Le musée dispose-t-il des documents pertinents ? Je sais bien comment fonctionnent les musées, car les employés des musées se tournent souvent vers moi pour obtenir de l'aide. Quant au merveilleux musée de Saint-Etienne, J'ai essayé d'y trouver des informations lorsque j'ai écrit un article sur les premiers superposés, hélas, en vain. Désolé pour l'insistance, mais la question devient fondamentale.
