My rifle was finally located in Kansas City where it disappeared over a month ago. It was shipped on its way and I can confirm it is sitting at my post office. I am out of the state until next week but I will open the box and make sure nothing is out of order.
I guess miracles can happen. My question is: where did it go for a month in KC?
a closet?
sequestered away until the investigation died down and then it would be spirited out?
But hopefully next week Ill see it and know its ok.
who knows.

f you read my Jan 31, 2023 post bout my Ruger rifle and stock blank that was stolen you will be amazed now.

after that rifle and blank were stolen, I was able to buy another Ruger Hawkeye Stainless in 338 Federal. I purchased another Turkish walnut stock blank and sent them to the stocker again. They arrived without issue. so in November 0f this year the rifle was finished and ready to come back,. I had the stocker send to me in early December. I checked tracking 4 days later and it was in same location. I checked a week after that and it hadn't moved in the system. I checked a week after that and still no movement. i contacted the stocker and he started a trace.

As of today, no movement. And the USPS cannot locate the package. It was sent Priority. and that has tracking. So, lets hear the naysayers tell me I am wrong for insinuating that it has been stolen. Its been missing 2 weeks, has dropped out of the system and cannot be located. sounds like it was stolen to me. a box that's approx. 4'x10' x48" long doesn't fall behind a filing cabinet.

I wish i copuld be optimistic and say its lost and will turn up. but I doubt it.

By the way, it was the exactly same make, model and caliber of rifle and same grade of wood that the first rifle stolen was! what are the odds of that.
I guess I can just say that be very careful shipping anything in or out of missouri. thats where both went missing/stolen.

additional info: evidently, according to postal employee, a number of packages at the one facility were never scanned. so, it appears there is a thief there.

Had the same thing happen to a knife I sent to Israel. Hit the Chicago PO and disappeared. Plus I had to refund the buyer.

3rd times the charm?

I’m sorry. The supervisor of the mailing department at the U of M tells me that any Priority product the post office sells is simply first class with a smile. Exact same service. The smile is them getting more money from you for the same thing.

Guns that are worth some money I typically ship post office guaranteed overnight. Yes, it is expensive as hell. But, it is the only post office product with a money back guarantee. I watch the calendar, to make sure there are no federal holidays for the next two weeks, show up on Monday, and ship it overnight. One time the post office didn’t get it there overnight, it actually got there the next morning, and the guy who bought my gun and I split the refund. It was way over $100, can’t remember exactly how much, but, from what I know, everyone involved with that package signs off on it.

I haven’t lost anything I ever shipped using that service. That said, I know guys who have never had the post office lose a thing.

Good luck finding your guns.

Best,
Ted

Now you know why every shipping container I use has 2 air tags. 1 hidden, and 1 poorly hidden.

I’m sorry for your loss.
I hope you get resolution soon.

Locally they caught 3 thieves. father, mother, and son. All worked for USPS. My understanding is they had a mini warehouse of stolen items in their home.
They had been doing this for years.
I hope you get your rifle back.

From past experience : A firearm missing in Interstate Commerce is a federal matter. Contact your local FBI and report it as such. ie Firearm theft in interstate commerce. You will be amazed at how a phone call from the FBI will get the shipper and his minions attention. Do this, it ups the ante in your favor immensely.Good Luck

Do you take the air tags apart and disable the "chirper" before shipping? It can be done. There are other makes of similar trackers that are silent.

No.
I hang one on the trigger guard, and glue the second one into the lining of the case.
I’ve left firearms all over the place and have remotely watched their every move, point to point. Every time an Apple product passed within (I think) 30 ft.

Thieves are not looking for extra risk. They want money.
All the crooks need to see is the firearm shaped box going to a gun shop. Then it’s just a matter of if they want to take risk or not.
If they do, your phone tells you your case is moving. To within feet. 24hrs/day.
If they are sophisticated, they detect the tracker and steal someone else’s.

Pretty common now days with stolen luggage to have the bags recovered quickly.
