Your last post just about killed this interesting thread and it does you a disservice.
There is an old Gaelic proverb "Is minic a bhris béal duine a shrón" meaning “A person’s own mouth often breaks their nose.”
I’m a relative “newbie”, I know only one member on this board and have no vested interest. Hopefully you will accept what I say in the best possible way.

Your gun lore and technical knowledge is very apparent in many of your posts and I (and I’m sure others) have learned from them. Bait is periodically put in your path – either deliberately or accidentally. It is seen by most and ignored, but it is unfortunate that you “rise” to it and thereby do yourself no favors, because it detracts from your otherwise very valuable contributions.

Please take what I say in the manner intended; persist in those posts and Dave probably would fulfil another proverb - "Coimhéad fearg fhear na foighde" (beware the wrath of a silent man.)
Your erudite posts/contributions would be missed, but it would be a pity to be remembered for those like the one above.
