I have read something similar. Men base friendship around an activity. Even a friend who drops over for a beer the talk is about past and future activities. A good friend of mine has said his good friends are generous. generous with their time, effort and thoughtfulness. I find that quite true, I look up my friends, those who give back, when I'm planning an outing of some sort.

The same reading material indicated that women base their friendship around a whole different set of dynamics. It is not based on an activity and most often around children careening them from one activity to another. Mom is there for the child not the activity but it provides the opportunity to shoptalk with all the other moms and form friendships.
