Recently received notice from Poulin Auctions that they will be auctioning the Collection of Lewis Drake in their May Premier Auction. I see that the Lewis Drake web site appears to be active. So, what is going on? Possibly, Lewis Drake is auctioning some of his collection rather than selling it himself? Lewis Drake specialized in high end shotguns and rifles, particularly antique masterpieces.
Can someone tell us what is happening?

smart move by l&d...

eliminates question of returns by inserting third party, poulins into equation...

return is not an option with poulins...

more buyer exposure...

for every l&d buyer, poulins probably have a few hundred...

poulins pays all overhead and administrative costs...

l&d has rep for selling high priced stuff...no bargains...

perception is, one can get bargain at poulins and other on line auctions...

inventory will be converted to cash in one week end of selling...

better believe there will be hidden reserves...as in item passed...

Lewis is older than I am, so probably wishing to retire. If you look at his pictures on his website they are dated 2023.

Thanks for your comments.
I find it interesting that a well known dealer would use an auction house to sell his magnificent collection of fine guns. My guess is that many of his guns are extremely valuable, and as such, the best way to sell them is via auction and let the market establish their value.
It will be fun to follow that auction.

He has probably got enough clout with the Auctioneers to let him off lightly on seller’s commission or unsold fees (at least I hope so for his sake).

Not much left on his website. Is it all in an auction house?
