Gentlemen, Any and all opinions on the above will be appreciated. From what I see online, the leading candidates are Alliant 20/28 and Winchester 572. Other opinions? Thank you.

20/28 and Unique are unavailable, unlikely to return in the near future, and may be gone forever.

HS-6 is the best of what remains for 28 gauge.

Hogdon reloading center

Longshot is another currently available option. Pretty good variety of recipes on Hogdon site.

Yes, and thank you, but what about pros and cons compared to Alliant 20/28 and Winchester 572? Thank you.

I use Proreach for 3/4oz and lilgun for 7/8oz. Pressures are pretty low as well. 8k and 9.1k.

Hope this helps.

Well, you can't get 20/28 unless you have a source other than the normal vendors.

572, HS-6, and Longshot are all viable and currently available at grossly inflated prices due to the powder monopoly.

I suggest a search of other shooting websites. There are dozens of threads and all possible viewpoints already online.

Note that HS-6 is identical to the now discontinued Winchester 540. Data is interchangeable.

Interesting. 20/28 is readily available here in NE Ohio, but only in one lb containers. And its expensive.

I prefer to buy 8 lb containers of powders so I have some on hand.

I also use Unique, which I have stock piled from the last powder crisis.

Unique is what I generally use. Used green dot for hotter loads. I still have a bushel or so of the earlier Win XX. Guess I need to buy some of the old-style wads while they are still available.
Sad to hear Unique is no longer around. Used it for pistols tool.
