As a boy, I recall unwrapping all white clay targets that had been wrapped in newsprint paper. Wrapped in stacks just like those. They cost an extra 25 cents a case and were used only for the rare night time shoots. The entire top was white, including the edge. These were special targets used for night time shooting under the lights. Those were in standard cardboard boxes, not barrels. We had only one field with lights at our club back then. And the light quality was crap compared to lights today.
