That better fits the Black & White Colour finish. I am pretty sure the other initials are going to roll tubes in the colour Brown.

I'll put in my 2-cents worth. I have a similar Featherweight. 12 gauge, doll's head, cocking indicators. Gun is numbered in high 900s with barrels being numbered 11xx. The number on the gun is such that it could be 2 numbers so it has a period after it on the internals but not the lower tang. It weighs, if I remember, 6 pounds on the nose. The difference between it and a Diamond grade is amazing. It looks absolutely all original except for a 30's period slotted pad. The barrels are actually the finest grade Damascus I have seen. The pattern is so dense and small I have to use a magnifier to see. They are stamped RS. The Damascus if plum brown with the pattern well defined but the top and bottom ribs are a very bold grade of laminate and seem to be black and white, as visible on the sides of the upper rib and all of the lower. I don't know if this could actually be manufactured this way and was wondering if it could have been Black and White originally and the barrels faded to brown over time. That seems as illogical as being finished two colors. The top rib is matted all the way on the top except for the engraving.

I will agree that the brown colour could be due to aging, but why did Robert Schlegelmilch's tubes stay Black & White?

AGS, the guns sound quite similar but a few differences on the finish.
This gun is serial numbered to very much the mid 400s and the barrel number is low-mid 600s. The barrel inscription is Charles Daly Fine Damascus Barrels with matting as on yours and the pattern, as you suggest, extremely dense. But both the barrels and the ribs have a uniform plum coloration, with the Damascus pattern being very well defined. There is no sign anywhere of there being a black and white finish on the ribs.
i know the barrels were redone within the last 30 years.And I'm pretty sure that when they were done, whatever the original colour mix was, they were redone as brown and white.

rse Better quality lacquer or some other coating? Or a better storage environment? All barrels trend to.plumb in the end.

As a sidenote, H.A. Lindner & his wife celebrated their >>Golden Wedding Anniversary<< in 1927.
Albert Heinrich Stobbe hung out his single in 1865 and was @ Roschstraße 11, Suhl early on when H.A. Lindner hung out his shingle..... He had a couple of sons that followed him into the craft being Edmund, with Erich and Rudolf being sons or grandsons. Their mother was Emilie and I believe Albert Heinrich Stobbe made his last file stroke sometime in 1928?
