But you might need a few of each to see what your barrel likes?? I think I can spare a handful of 170 grain RN I could toss your way.

For the Sister Cartridge for which Ford has a fancy, the 1940 Shooter's Bible gives that the German D.W.M. Cartridge, the 8x48R, was loaded with 1.6 grams of W 1920 powder behind a 12.7 Gramme bullet for 530 m/s at 25 meters.

BillK, Many years ago, I was able to buy a local gunshop's total supply of .321" bullets made for 32 Win. Special ammunition. Since I have "on hand" bullets that were made to expand at about the velocities this class of cartridges usually generate, it is natural that I would use them at either .321" or sized to .318" as appropriate. Since you are starting off "fresh", you should use which ever bullet is to your benefit, cost and/or availability wise. Raimey's generous offer may help with that decision. This applies if you are asking about the 8x58R Sauer & Sohn. The question was for 8x68R Sauer, which I guess was a typo. There is an 8x68S, which is a very good cartridge in the 8mm Remington Magnum class and is only intended for .323" bullets made to expand at a higher velocity. Have fun, Mike

My apologies for the typo. Yes, I was referring to 8x58R Sauer. Thank you from bringing it to my attention. I went back to my message and corrected the typo. BillK

Hi. I shipped the gun along with the scope I want to mount to JJ Perodeau, so I don’t have it handy to take the measurement. BillK

I found a couple of reloading recipes for the 8x58R Sauer but they don’t specify the primer. Would any large primer work? Note: I am not referring to Bertram cases. Thank you. BillK
