Hello all

I have a H&H Paradox in 16ga from 1910, un pristine condition, although sadly the stock was changed somewhere in these plus 100 years. It is nitro proof

Rifling in in very good condition, as well as all metal parts. It even has the original leather case with matching serial numbers.

As far as I know, only 93 units were made in 16ga.

I plan to use it for small game with low gr ammo as to not stress the gun, as of course it is a collection gun, and for hard shooting, I have modern guns.

But I would also like to use it for wild pork, which in Spain is so common to hunt. I would like to take advantage of the rifling and use big game bullets

I have been reading as much as possible during the last weeks, and have got to the following conclusion:
-if using normal barrels, (with no or little choke), big game bullets with fins should be used.
-If using a barrel with rifling at the end (like the H&H Paradox and others, and modern interchangeable chokes), only bullets with sabot/jacket should be used, as if normal ones with fins are used, they can interfere with the rifling... While if using jacket/sabot, the plastic jacket will adapt to the rifling getting the spin, and separating from the spinning bullet once it exist the barrel.

Assuming all this is true, I had a very difficult time finding 16ga bullets with sabot/jacket. For 12ga and 20ga, there are many options, but the only one I have been able to find in Spain for 16ga is:
-Solognac Brenneke 17 G https://www.decathlon.es/es/p/bala-brenneke-17-g-sin-plomo-calibre-16-67-x-5/_/R-p-331365?mc=8640188
-Brenneke Topas sabot nature https://www.brenneke-ammunition.de/en/details/161270?cHash=5155a0a00ca63608b4efa03fae9f7863

I would like to know:
-Anyone with a H&H 16ga Paradox?
-What ammunition are you using?
-Anyone has original H&H ammunition for 16ga?
-Anyone has the original dyes to make bullets and make ammunition? I know there is someone out there making the tools to make bullets, and in 12ga. Any way to get in contact with him?
-Any other relevant information

I am waiting for the Paradox book to arrive, hope I will lean many things about Paradox history, and hopefully about H&H 16ga models

Graeme Wright’s book “Shooting the British Double Rifle” has a very useful chapter in the Third Edition on loading for Paradox guns.

I have not seen the Fourth Edition that has recently been published but I anticipate it will have as much information or more.

His books sell out fast and then go up in price second hand.

I believe Rigby’s are now offering the 4th Edition and I suggest you go online and buy one whilst you still can.
