I went to the auction Saturday. Weather was perfect, about 100 people showed up for an auction miles from any large town. Prices were low at best but a few were crazy. They had guns, reloading supplies, reloading machines, ammo, powder, wads, primers, cases, mil surplus ammo, tools and a very cherry John Deere riding mower with some age on it.
I bought multiple unopened cases of wads for $52.50 per case, 11,000 once fired hulls, half 20, 28 &.410 for under a penny each. Guns, he had a hundred plus, sold for fair but not high value. Reloading die sets were sold in groups of ten and brought $50/lot. I bought a new snow blower for a dollar and a Mikata drill in the case for $7.50.
The crazy prices were for shot, which sold for three dollar more than you can buy it locally and for opened bottles and open kegs of powder which went for $50/pound based on full weights which they were not. I never buy any open containers of powder or reloaded ammo. An A5 in very rough shape went for $500.00. A couple wheel guns which he had shot almost to pieces went for what I could buy near mint guns for. But most guns went for about 2/3 asking prices at local gun shows.
In conclusion don’t wait for an auction of your stuff hoping get top dollar for things. Use them up and enjoy them while you are alive. Nobody want your stuff as much as you do.
