early in the video the salesman removes the forearm on the Purdey and shakes it to show it is still tight. This is very inaccurate. A self opener such as a Purdey can feel tight even when not, as long as the kickers are putting pressure on the barrels. The sidelocks need to be removed and then check for tightness. Same with a Dickson with the assisted opener. The he says they measure barrel wall thickness 1/2 way and out to muzzle. The crucial area is up to 9" from breech.

This expected thinness barrel wall thickness of a double barrel shotgun barrel set is 6-10 inches from the muzzle near the ribs. Some times it in other places but go to that area first to check for barrel wall thickness.

9 inches from the breech is crucial for the bore in meeting proof laws.

Watched these two videos. This guy has been on other Holt videos where they were shooting black powder guns at driven birds.
Two things, he was snapping the triggers in the first video without snap caps. Thought the Holt's guy would have told him not to be doing that.
Second, who brings 1000 GBP to an auction to buy a Purdey

I thought his comment, “ lost the Purdey to a humble farmer “ telling, and the follow up comment that the same farmer won a second Purdey amusing as well.

Totally appropriate indeed. I knew a bloke (now departed to the Lord) who used to designate his profession quite humbly - when asked - as "farmer and vintner." - Very plain, very korrekt.
The same man also, in other contexts, used to remark: "this state in the German Federal Republic, which beareth MY name...".

He was of course right in that point, too (it was HRH, Carl Georg, Duke of Württemberg, chef of the former Royal House).
