For the most part, there were no wolves in northern MN until recently. No shortage of them, today. There also were no turkeys in either downtown, or, the suburbs while I was growing up, and very few bald eagles, anywhere, much less downtown, where they currently nest along the river.
Wild turkeys were a real thing in Canada much later than they were in the US. Anyone who claims otherwise is badly misinformed.
