Ted,
My father flew the PV1 Ventura during the war. He patrolled the Atlantic coast from North Carolina to Maine hunting submarines. About 30 years ago the Confederate Air Force flew in some planes to Alexandria including a PV2 Harpoon.
My dad showed them some pictures of his squadron and they got excited as they saw the original markings on the planes. The pilots wanted to buy his pictures but he said they could have them for a ride. He got to ride in the right seat. The pilots said they very rarely got to meet Ventura pilots.

That plane sat, for decades, on the border of Minneapolis and St. Paul. From there, it went to Denver, I’m thinking, sat some more, and finally, went to the museum at Wright Paterson.
About 6 feet of the left wing was broken, and held in place with 2X4s and straps. It was a sad sight, but, it might be the only example left in the world wearing its original paint. I was told someone at Wright Patterson applied the wrong designation, of R model (restricted, non combat) to it when it arrived, I believe the version with the 1750 horse engines got that designation, the version with the 2000 horse engines did not. People who know the difference aren’t running around in bunches anymore. I’m not an expert, but, the plane was local and I kinda’ followed it when it was in the news.
Good on your Dad. It was probably cold, lonely, loud, duty.
Best, Ted

You would be funny if you were not so pathetic, .... Now back you basement dungeon. Hmm. where have we heard this before. No, it wasn't, maybe it was, part of the northern tier thread. I know, I think this is how a big dog phd tries to impress the grunt dog, wanna be phds. Get me coffee, and pick up my dry cleaning, then we'll go over bashing the red, white and blue, all American President 101, and the ABCs of knee jerk, under funding, whine and cheese conversation. Visuals, subtle, would come in perfectly right here. A podium, power point, a few multicolored graphs flash on the screen, then you do a little quarter turn and tease a glimpse of your man bun.

May God bless America and those who defend her.

Ask him about the stock market. You won’t get an answer, but, he’ll think of some derogatory thing to say about your breeding, or, some such nonsense. That’s a good enough argument for a guy like the prof. Facts, seem altogether troubling, when he has so few to work with. Best, Ted

How about the bond market and the absolute mess unfolding regarding our budget deficit ?
Let me guess Ted, it is all the Dems fault, even though it is Trump's piss poor policies that are driving the increase in interest rates and the additional cost to service our debt.

Finally made it back to Denver after an interminable delay process and it was the same going out. "Lightening" was detected within 20-miles of the airport and the ground crews stopped loading the luggage going up (are we all 4-years old and in wading pools now?) and then there was a "ground stop for fog" as given for the problem coming home (my wife waited several hours before giving up and going home w/o me and she saw no fog anywhere).
It seems every flight is delayed anymore (at least that has been the case for me lately). Maybe it's just Denver(?) but these problems were unheard of when I was traveling for work just a few short years ago.
Have we become a nation of wimps (or is that just in the blue cities)? Speaking of lightning… https://amp.kansascity.com/news/nation-world/national/article307233546.html

Well, Lloyd, I'm just glad I'll never have to fly again. I haven't been on a plane since the late 60s. I'll rent a car and drive across the US before I ever get on a plane again. Too many problems nowadays with planes. I'd be a little embarrassed when I hit the ground with my pants down around my ankles, because I was in the commode when one of the doors came off and I got sucked out of the plane. I enjoy driving too much to ever fly again. Driving up to Connecticut a couple years ago was a great vacation. I got to see the Ruger building, the Winchester plant and the whole area was just gorgeous. You can't see those things from a plane. I just wish I could have snuck into the Winchester building and got a look around. But, I got a lot of enjoyment walking around the outside and driving around the area. My bucket list still has the Cody Museum and maybe New York City and some of the Native American Reservations in Montana. But flying there? I don't think so anymore. But, if you chose to- good luck, Lloyd!!
