Raimey,
I agree with 22WCF as original caliber, later 5.6x35R Vierling was the same case, loaded with jacketed bullets at a higher velocity (There is an article in WAIDMANNSHEIL about the relationship between 22WCF, 5.6x35R Vierling. and 5.6X36R/22 Hornet). I seem to remember from the course I took for the German hunting license that a Roe legal cartridge case had to be longer than 36mm which would rule out 22WCF, etc. This was in 1971, and it changed shortly after that to a minimum of 100 M/Kg (now 1000 Newtons) for Roe, which established 222 as the minimum. If your chamber is cut with a rim recess, let me know if you intend to use 5.6x50R cases and need some.
Re. oskar's experience with long chambers for rimmed cartridges, I have similar experience and now I set all my sizing dies to just "kiss" the case shoulder, to prevent setting the shoulder back every time it is fired. The Nosler 60 grain Partition bullet is Simi- Spitzer and shorter than a 50 grain spitzer, so they shoot well in my 5.6x50R and I have taken Whitetail (Alabama size) with it. The partition might shoot in your rifle, and it is worth checking.

Raimey,
After checking, I see your chamber is not cut for a rimmed case, and I can just see the end of a spring-loaded pin extractor, let me know if you need 222 cases. BTW, the scope mount bases seem to be either EAW or Recknagel swing mounts and New England Custom Guns can likely set you up with rings,
Mike
