If it was ordered for a boy or lady, that doesn't mean it was ordered by the boy or lady. It would have likely been ordered by the dad/husband. It wouldn't be unusual for the maker to recommend a "modern" action type to a buyer. Anyway, I'm not so sure it was for a boy or lady, fuhrmann's idea that it was for the "Schoenzeit" has merit also. I haven't opined about the filler blocks in the shotgun rib until now because to my mind they are too narrow to have been for a proper scope mount. A workman like mounting would not depend on the soft soldered rib for support, rather a wider section of the rib would have been cut out and a "sattel" would have been soldered to the barrels (wider solder joint) to support the mounting against recoil. Recently, there have been double barrel shotguns imported from the "Ost Zone" with telescopes mounted. I believe this was to hunt hooved game with slugs during Communist occupation when rifles were restricted. Slugs in a 24 gauge wouldn't be especially useful. On the other hand, it is possible that a less skilled workman installed narrow dovetails to mount a scope (for slugs or shot) and discovered the error of his ways (or the next owner did) and abandoned the idea. This is all speculation, but it is not speculation to believe you will have a great time with this gun, the new pup and your boys.
Enjoy,
Mike
