![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/85/5f/Mn4fxSd1_t.jpg) I've encircled the Semi-Smokeless / Nitro Proof for Ferlach stamps plus there are a couple stage stamps on the tubes. Each tube carries the Preliminary EF(Ferlach) plus there's a Preliminary Data-String on the lower rib forward of the forend hanger, but I think the Semi-Smokeless Proof denotes an effort on each tube of the 24 X 24 tubeset. One full regiment of marks for the whole of the tubeset. I will go back & read the proof info for the period. Hochachtungsvoll, Raimey rse

Not that it would bring clarity to the issue at hand, but nevertheless: Lots of interesting information here! So the shotgun tube set appears to have nitro proof as well. The left barrel definitely is choked, being marked "nicht für Kugel". But both barrels show those lines or striations or maybe remnants of straight rifling. So straight rifling plus choke for the left barrel??
A comment to Mike's remark of "hundred years of use with black powder with subsequent cleaning": yes, that gun appears to have been used lot, but possibly not for 100 years straight, besides 24 gauge black powder shells not being available since WW2. That gun might also have seen smokeless powder with corrosive primers and not enough cleaning. fuhrmann

Well, let's couple Lad & Lady to Lack of Cleaning & I think we all can agree on that.
But this is a Wonderful Thread & I learn @ almost every post, including mine.

Consider this too, I do not think that the tube diameter measurement changed in any tube under the 1966 Proof Effort. Not sure if the 24 X 24 tubeset passed thru or not, but since it isn't stamped 66, I don't know. Maybe the brace of tubeset passed together?

I think there was no reason to have the 24x24 tubeset reproofed in 1966.

Raimey, If the 577 Snyder case will chamber, you can load it with worn out polishing media for the carpenter bee season (next years, it is already over for this year). I mocked up a 50-70 case to fit the 32ga, but had to adjust the rim to fit the rim recess, a Snyder rim might have to be adjusted to fit the 24 ga. Let me know if you come. BTW, you might rather use 577-450 cases, the Synder is pretty short. No, I don't keep a First Aid kit in my truck, but I usually have some duct tape and used paper towels. Mike

I clocked the velocity of some 222 Remington with a 50 grain bullet. Factory Winchester and Remington were almost exactly the same @ 3240 ft/s.

Was able to pick up a Box of Horandy 50 grain V-Max ammo and they publish a velocity of 3345 ft/s and I clocked a group around 3275-3300 ft/s. That is 5,6X61R Vom Hofe SE velocities out of that 222 Remington..... And the 50 grain V-Max easily hits where you look.....
