Big bores are best shot standing offhand or with sticks, from a bench they are brutal, much better when you can move with the recoil.

Yeah, I learned that the hard way, I was patching those turkey loads off of a bench, brutal.

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

I shoot all my really big guns standing ... most will make you take one or two steps back from recoil.

You can shoot heavy recoil rifles from the bench if you block up the rests high enough that you have to sit upright and don't "lean into" the rifle. This allows the recoil to rotate the body around the hips rather than "compress" the upper body. Some of us are decrepit enough that we can't stand without the help of a cane and shooting any rifle "one handed" is pretty rough". Even this way, you will want to limit the number of shots in one session.

buckstix,
I'm not able to travel that distance anymore. I was hoping you would try it for me and post a video. BTW, what did the chronograph show?

I opened the link just fine. The chronograph reads “Just Painful”😣

1997 fps with an SD 11.
