The action pins on the 201 are not the same as the 23, and do match the Parker Reproduction action.
But they are different guns

I don't know if Skip the Snipe guy is still around, but he went through this with a 201 and might help

Different guns aesthetically, sure. Mechanically, they’re the same. Kinda like a Sterlingworth or Trojan compared to the graded guns.
201’s were made with left over Parker Repro parts.

Dustin: you are a gunsmith, I'm not. Could you please indicate the Parker Reproductions parts here? Do agree the barrels appear to have monobloc construction?

Drew, I’m no gunsmith. I just dabble.

You’re stuck on the barrels being monoblocked. Nobody is saying that the factory didn’t make changes to produce a cheaper gun. Thats painfully obvious in regards to the 201. I’m assuming the actions & parts used were left in the raw, from the Parker Repro production run. Can only assume that the barrel construction was changed for cost/production reasons, just like the finishing and sculpting of the action was. Point is, the 201 is basically the Trojan version of the Jap produced Parker Repro.

I’ve never been inside one, but looking at how the pins are set up, it’s probably safe to bet that the insides of the 201 are very very Parker like.

The bolting and cocking of the Classic Doubles Model 201 looks to me to be taken from the Winchester Model 21 --

I certainly looks that way. Have you been inside of one?
What do the internals tell us?

Back when the 201 came out, I lived about as far as I could live from Omaha and still be in Iowa. But always looking for an excuse to go look at guns, I drove out there. I was underwhelmed. I wasn't a Model 23 fan either. I was a Repro fan. The 201 just didn't do itfor me. I'd been out to Omaha when they were handling the last of the Japanese made SKB sxs. I had some interest in those. They put straight grips together with slimmer forends on some of those. I wrote in an article that they had all the right pieces together on some of those guns. Then theystopped importing them.
