I can assure you; in 2025 there isn’t a gunsmith alive capable of high quality stock making that doesn’t wish to make at least HALF of what the aerospace machine shops charge per hour! We might actually make this living you alluded to. Likewise, the top guys charging these prices still have backlogs exceeding two years, cheaper doesn’t help with that situation!
How much time do you think it takes to make a stock in one-off fashion, finish it, and checker it?
I implore you to make one yourself, seriously. You’ll then understand the reason for the cost and have great respect for those that do it well. JR
