HalfaDouble,
I believe the considerable capability for vertical and horizontal adjustment is to allow "lining it up" with the rear and front sights on the rifle's barrel.

Ford:

I just don't think it was a light wave guide, but rather an intricate rear sight. There is just too much to the internals. Some >>Dot<< or Spider Web that I have not been able to identify.

The Old Austrian(German) term for the device is Gucker whilst the Slovenian name is kukalo.

More later as I am trying to sort this annealing thing for 6,5X70R Sauer cases.

Raimey,
I have never seen the things you describe in the typical "pop up" sight. What donor cases are you using for the 6x70R ? Are you sizing them to 6x70R or will they already chamber. I try to avoid annealing until they will chamber and are trimmed to length. If a part of the neck or shoulder folds up, It will fail there. To avoid that, size the case in an intermediate step, depending on what dies you have on hand. Every obsolete case is a different story and it takes experience to work each one out. Every case you crush, or burn, or split adds to the experience, so don't look at it as a failure, look at it as a lesson.

The only think I can add for now is that the precision of these Kukalo, they are stellar and they actually add to the platform in magnitudes; being much more than a wave guide(by the way a wave guide is something like that orange stick(for want of a better term) on the speedometer that moves clockwise to display your speed. The material is a wave guide that directs the light down the material and highlights your speed.)
