If you are interested in war memorials, the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment (attached to 82d Airborne) embarked from NYC in December 1943 and arrived in Belfast in early Jan 1944. They were first based for a couple of months in quonset huts in Cromore House, Portstewert, Belfast. There are two small memorials to the 508th, one plaque attached to the war memorial and one at Cromore House. (Photo from my father's camera).
