I bought this recently and it was shipped taken down. It is a nonejector gun. I did notice that the firing pins were protruding. Someone must have pulled the triggers after disassembly. The barrels dropped onto the action and fit fine. But when I tried to fit the fore end, it won’t go. It appears that I need to cock the action for the fore end to fit. How do I do that? Yeah, try this: Mate the tubeset & water-table/frame and drop the tubeset just the least little bit and then add the forend, which probably won't snap into battery right off. But move the tubeset a little either way and see if you can firmly press the forend into battery. Make sure that the slots in the forend properly mate w/ the cocking dogs on the knuckle.

On some German/Austrian hammerless platforms, with the safety off, you can hold the triggers back upon assembly & it gets you to the same uncocked scenario.

I tried pulling the triggers to assemble . No go. So then I put the tubes on the frame and placed the fore end on as far as I could with toplever slightly ajar. Then I could open the gun the rest of the way and I could feel the gun being cocked. Then the fore end snapped right on! A nice 6lb 1 oz combo, 16 over 7X57! Thanks for the help.

That's a Great pairing for a Kombo. Some folks prefer to ship or store their guns w/ the hammers relaxed and not in battery. But ejector guns are sometimes difficult to attach the forend and it may even depend on the ejector type. I will search.

If you have the need to re-cock a kipplauf (of any barrel configuration) that has been de-cocked for storage you can do so by forcing the cocking levers against the front of a workbench (hint: do not use your wife's dining room table). But first make sure the problem in reassembling the gun is not that the extractor has been pushed all the way into the barrels.

I noticed the Kombo wears the Eckenförde Leaf proofmark so that would put the date post 1952.

I think I remember a 6-66 date on the tubes. Is it correct that the cocking levers move down when cocking if the gun is held horizontally while pushing against the table edge.

Yes, so your movement would be to push toward the workbench and up at the same time, you may have to adjust the location of the extractor to keep it from keeping the barrels from engaging the hinge pin.
