Actually, thank you, Carcano. Investigating further on European website blogs reveals the same advice you are giving, with one gunshop stating that they will not install an einstecklauf larger than .22 Hornet, "even if it costs them business."

Could you mention for us which locking systems on drillings are appropriate for larger calibers?
The two potential candidates would be a Kippblockverschuss (Vertikalblockverschluss) after Jäger, now quite popular again due to Blaser and Merkel (the latter modified); and a Kerstenverschluss (double Greener). The third candidate, namely a Herkulesverschluss, is rather uncommon if not rare.
