Cashmore guns were of very high quality. Here is a Cashmore Nitro, 3" cases, Whitworth Fluid Steel, pigeon gun. Notice that even the hidden parts of the gun are delicately engraved. Vault-like closing.

The proof marks date 1904-1925
13/1 indicates bore .719" - .728"
Pigeon loads of that era were typically 1 1/4 oz. 3 1/2 Dr.Eq. - probably not a good choice now with 100 year old wood.

Cornell Pubs has a 1903 catalog repro which is available as a PDF

Those are some of the clearest proof house stampings I’ve seen in a long time.

A good barrel cleaning and inspection and you should be right as rain.

That’s a nice old gun, well cared for.
CZ,
Just curious as to how you could arrive at such a thorough assessment of this piece from three photos, with none of the buttstock, forend, top or bottom of the frame, or an entire barrel/bores photo? It appears to me to be a decent old brown gun of good lineage, with some potential to be freshened up to a certain point short of full restoration, and nothing more, just by the three photos given.

Just want to say thanks again to everyone who has taken the time to reply to this thread. So much great information! I will follow up the contacts and links provided with enthusiasm.
I will also post more pictures when I get a chance.

As far as I know the gun has sat in storage unused for more than half a century. I would like to give it the care and attention it deserves.

Daryl Hallquist, that is a really nice example, more figuring than mine. There’s something about that aged patina and craftsmanship from another era, very nostalgic.

I have a pair of Cashmores. One is a Christchurch Cashmore hammer gun. Obviously, they targeted that part of the world as a market.

I also have What I believe is a Paragon, originally with Damascus barrels but then sleeved in England. I would like to know when they stopped using Damascus on that gun.

Both are really wonderful guns to shoot and both fit me better than any of my other guns.
